About me

I’m a professional policy advocate and have worked on migration, human rights, Latin America and US foreign policy since the early 1980s. I was the Executive Director of WOLA (the Washington Office on Latin America), a human rights advocacy organization from 2003-2016, and Director of the Latin America Working Group, a coalition of 60 organizations that advocated for human rights and social justice in US policy toward Latin America from 1993-2002.

I spent 2017 on sabbatical doing research and thinking about non-profit advocacy in the current political environment.

At present, I’m helping organizations and non-profit directors think strategically and solve problems. I have particular interest in multi-sectorial approaches to complex problems. If you think that I could be of help, let’s talk.
